On July 8, the national science and technology award conference was held in Beijing. CITIC Group received two second prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award for 2025.

One of the awards went to Longping High-Tech (under CITIC Agriculture), which led a hybrid rice breeding project. This marked the first time Longping HighTech had received the award as the primary completer, and it was also the only agricultural firm nationwide to achieve this distinction in 2025. The team developed six new thermo-sensitive sterile lines, effectively addressing the longstanding challenges in twoline hybrid rice seed production.

The other award was received by Xingcheng Special Steel (under CITIC Pacific Special Steel), which codeveloped a clean steel manufacturing technology with the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Their solutions have been adopted by major Chinese steelmakers and applied in key national projects such as hydropower station shafts and nuclear reactor components.

In the first half of 2026, CITIC secured 10 provincial-or-ministerial-level science awards, leading in eight of them. These achievements mark a significant milestone in CITIC's drive for technological self-reliance and its pursuit of becoming a world-class tech-driven enterprise.
