China CITIC Bank International joining hands with Air China launched CNCBI Air C

On November 27, 2013, China CITIC Bank International Limited (CNCBI) unveiled “CNCBI Air China Dual Currency Credit Card”—Hong Kong's first aviation co-branded, HKD/RMB-denominated credit card. It is launched in partnership with Air China Limited (Air China) and with full support from China CITIC Bank Corporation Limited (CNCB), CNCBI's parent bank. The tripartite collaboration marks a strategic move in CNCB's global business expansion and a milestone on its way to be a global bank.

CNCBI, a bank headquartered in Hong Kong, branched out in mainland China, Macau, Singapore and the US; it is committed to developing its international businesses in Hong Kong, Asia and beyond, serving as CNCB's offshore platform for its international outreach. Air China is China's flag carrier reaching 145 international cities in 29 countries as of June 2013. Capitalizing on the Star Alliance extensive network, Air China is able to take its passengers to 1,329 destinations in 194 countries. With the synergy of the international advantages of CNCBI and Air China, the newly launched CNCBI Air China Dual Currency Credit Card provides card holders with services of convenience and security. The launch of the co-branded credit card is expected to offer both CNCBI and Air China a strong momentum for overseas businesses development.

Mrs. Helen Kan, Executive Director and Alternate Chief Executive Officer of CNCBI, revealed at the ceremony: “The launch of the CNCBI Air China Dual Currency Credit Card constitutes part of the Bank's cross-border banking service and product development strategies. The strategic partnership pools the strengths of Air China, CNCB and CNCBI, and is to provide business and leisure travellers with unparalleled cross-border and global asset management and spending advantages.”

CNCB Credit Card Centre manager said, “2013 marks an important year for the CNCB Credit Card Centre as we implemented CNCB's strategies to make headways in our global endeavour. We will leverage on a wide-range of advantages of Air China and CNCBI to highlight and expand offshore financial platform to provide card holders first-class overseas spending experiences through close collaboration between the three parties. I am sure this partnership is just a start. It will lead market to turn a new page in cross aviation-finance collaboration.”

Mr. He Zhigang, General Manager in Marketing Department of Air China, pointed out: “Buoyed by rapid economic developments, China ranked 1st surpassing the US in 2012 in terms of international tourism consumption, which amounted to USD102 billion, a 40% increase year on year. CNCBI Air China Dual Currency Credit Card was launched in line with globalisation trends, targeting the international markets with a view to meeting Chinese people's increasing demand for the overseas use of credit card. This is Air China's first overseas co-branded credit card, which will not only benefit Air China passengers but will also spur the demand for overseas routes from Air China, enhancing Air China’s brand among Chinese people in outbound tourism.”

Mr. Chen Xiaoxian, Chairman of CNCBI, noted: “This Hong Kong's first aviation dual-currency credit card not only underscores CNCBI's operating philosophy of Cross-border Synergy and Innovative Development, it also marks a milestone for the tripartite partnership.
