In January 2019, the 4 MTPY beneficiation plants of Vedanta Zinc in South Africa Gamsberg Mine were put into operation. Vedanta Zinc was a key customer of CITIC HIC. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the ceremony in companion of the Minister of Mineral Resources. More than 700 people including the Chairman of Vedanta Board participated in the ceremony.

The Φ8.5×5.5m SAG mill and Φ6.2×10.4m ball mill supplied by CITIC HIC were the key equipment of the beneficiation plant. The stable trial operation and good performance of mills were hailed by Vedanta, South African government and the peers. This is not only a successful practice for CITIC HIC to actively implement the national “Belt and Road” initiative and to facilitate the Chinese equipment to go abroad, but also laid a solid foundation for the future cooperation between the two countries. It is also of great significance to further expand the brand influence of CITIC HIC mining equipment in the African market.
